SimpleBass® is an idea developed after more than 20 years of experience as a bass player. The first project I had developed was the creation of an electric double bass with the scale of a bass guitar. This was the SimpleBass® EBU, an instrument designed for electric bass players who want to find the sound of the double bass. The SimpleBass® EBU uses the “long scale” strings from the regular electric bass, much cheaper than the double bass strings, the scale is 850 mm and allows the player to keep the typical electric bass fingerings.

SimpleBass® Electric was developed starting from another need, for 20 years I played a fretless Jazz Bass, I then tried other bass models with 5 and 6 strings, but then I always was back playing my “old friend”, the Jazz Bass.
But with the Jazz Bass I always missed the extension, having some more frets space would have been an real help for play themes or for have a better extension during the improvisation.
So, I started to think about an instrument that maintains the basic features of a Jazz Bass, slim neck, passive electronics, but with many more frets.
After working on the design, where my focus was to make a clean shape, the concept was: “remove what you don’t need”, I started to work on the first prototype, I had to solve several technical problems, especially because the length of the neck.
After the SimpleBass® Electric I’ve developed other models, the SimpleBass® Fusion, the SimpleBass® EX and the SimpleBass® @.
Early in 2014 I’ve developed a project for a guitar.
Chromatone Guitars® is the new brand actually in production.
All SimpleBass® models and the Chromatone Guitars® are extremely well balanced, the neck and the flat fingerboard are its strength along with the powerful sound, the goal of my research is to create an instrument where the sound is coming mostly from the musician.
The wood is selected from time to time according to the availability. Each instrument produced is unique and unrepeatable, this is extraordinary thing about handmade musical instruments.

The SimpleBass® models now available are:
SimpleBass® Electric – 4 Strings Fretless
SimpleBass® Fusion – 4, 5, 6 Strings Fretted or Fretless
SimpleBass® EX – 4, 5, 6 Strings Fretted or Fretless
SimpleBass® @ a full scale Electric Upright Bass 4 or 5 strings developed in cooperation with Ares Tavolazzi.
